I am wanting to promote body positivity here in Suffolk and to do this I have joined forces with the Your Body Rocks Group and will be hosting a Your Body Rocks Pilates Class followed by a painting session. Dates are in the pipeline so watch this space……
Your Body Rocks is an open public group so feel free to invite others. But please note the rules:
This is to celebrate ALL our bodies and what they can do, we are NOT into body shaming and any bullying, swearing or rude behaviour will be banned.
We want to hear your body stories… What have they been through, what have they achieved, what are they capable of.
What do you think about body positivity and body confidence?
What is your body story? Have you got something to share? Have you had body negativity because of your age, size, disability? Are you a teacher or instructor of fitness? How has your experience been as an older teacher, a male teacher?
Have you witnessed the fitness and health industry becoming more aesthetical like the model industry?
Have you painted a rock of positivity or found one?? Share a photo of you and the rock. Where have you hidden it/where have you found it?
Don’t forget to include on the rock #yourbodyrocks and “Share me, Hide Me, Rock Out” info below so people know what to do.
We recommend using acrylic paints and Sharpie permanent marker pens.
What is Your Body Rocks?
‘Your Body Rocks’ celebrates wonderful unique, healthy and inspirational bodies; focussing on achievements and capabilities rather than just how we look.
The primary aim of the campaign is to encourage body confidence and body positivity for all, men, women, young and old.
In doing so, we also hope to encourage the fitness, health and well-being industry to break away from the clichéd images of ‘body perfection’ and represent have a more balanced and healthy attitude, outlook and mindset.
We believe that a healthy body image comes from understanding that there is no such thing as perfection, old does not mean unfit, mobility for life does not mean extreme flexibility, and health and fitness is more than a clothes label or size.
Finally, we want you to join us, to stand up and say “NO. IT’S NOT OK. It’s not ok to body shame.“
How can I get involved:
Our ‘Your Body Rocks’ volunteers are decorating rocks with body positive pictures and messages and hiding them in and around UK – but let’s spread the kindness even wider!
Share Me – if you find one of the rocks, take a photo of you and the rock of positivity and share on social media with the #yourbodyrocks
Tell us your story; a celebration of what your bodies have achieved, have gone through and battled.
Hide Me again – re-hide me somewhere else for someone else to find (don’t hide them too well!)
ROCK OUT! Support the campaign by creating your own rock to sprinkle out into the universe. Paint, scribble with a Sharpie, decorate however you like with body positive images and words. Get creative!
Host your own ‘Rock Party’! Get your friends round and paint, rock n’ roll!
Embrace the movement in body positivity with us and celebrate how YOUR Body Rocks.
