What is Pilates?

 Pilates is a system of exercise designed by Joseph Pilates after the First World War, as a means to bring people to optimum health. It was originally called Controlology. The system has been refined and developed by various teachers since Pilates passed away in 1967.

STOTT Pilates has the most widely respected instructor training program worldwide. The method is based on five principles:


•Pelvic placement

•Rib cage placement

•Scapular movement

•Head & cervical spine placement

Pilates mat exercises include the use of various props, such as small pads, rings, exercise bands and weights.
